We got through bag 2 and saw the engine was next, and just had to continue. This thing is pretty kickass. 16 cylinders, and it’s even got timing gears, sort of.

Lego always seems to nail just the right amount of authenticity without getting insanely technical. What I find so fascinating about big builds like that is how you might put a piece in during step 3 in book 1 only to have it come into play 43 steps later.

And hopefully you have it in the right place so you’re not tearing stuff apart to get back to it. Almost had one of those moments tonight, but it was a quick fix a few steps later, but could’ve been much worse.

At this point, make sure you spin the motor and have the pistons on each side moving as you want. There is enough play in the gears that you can get the cylinders to sync up if you want them to.

Oh, it’s been spun, oh yes, it’s been spun.... but good point, it was late so I didn’t get all Techincal on the timing. It’s just frickin cool. Better yet, my 5yo was helping out it together and using the proper terminology for the pistons, connecting rods and cylinders... it’s was a proud papa moment.

Yeah, I already have the GT3, so I just had to. I really like these sets, LEGO does a great job with them.
